In announcement news today, our friends over at Criterion have set their January DVD and Blu-ray slate, and its another darned good one. Look for new Blu-ray upgrades of Army of Shadows 385 and Robinson Crusoe on Mars 404 on 1/11/10 SRP 95 each, followed by upgraded versions of Sam Fullers The Naked Kiss 18 and Shock Corridor Cat 19 on both DVD and Blu-ray on 1/18/11 SRP 95 and 95 each, and James L. Brookss Broadcast News 552 on DVD and Blu-ray on 1/25/11 SRP 95 and 95 each. Also, Eclipse Series 25: Basil Deardens London Underground streets on DVD on 1/25/11 as well SRP 95, featuring the films Sapphire, The League of Gentlemen, Victim and All Night Long. Excellent batch! Could Broadcast News be more relevant today? Theyre currently working on their first Blu-ray release, Alien 2: On Earth, which will be coming out in a few weeks. We hope to see lots of great stuff from them going forward. See you all on Monday! heres a couple more new Blu-ray Disc reviews for you: Universals long-awaited Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy set, due in stores in a couple weeks on 10/26 and DreamWorks Animations charming How to Train Your Dragon, which streets tomorrow yes, a Friday. Afternoon, folks! first quick In release news today, 20th Century Fox has set Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 Motion Comic Blu-ray DVD Combo for release on 1/4/11 SRP Wait, you Buffy never HAD a Season 8 ! this is a virtual Season 8 done in semi-animated motion comic format, based on the recent Dark Horse comic series. Interesting, no? Extras on this release will include trivia, artwork galleries and a couple featurettes. Apparently, its been available on iTunes The Others a few months already. Speaking of Fox, the studio has also set Cyrus for DVD and Blu-ray release on 12/14 SRP 98 and Extras will include deleted scenes, a directors QA and multiple featurettes. Fox has also announced a couple more catalog Blu-ray releases for January Hope Floats and A Walk in the Clouds, both due on 1/4/11 SRP 99 each. Also today, it turns out that we were right Warners Inception BD/DVD/Digital Copy Combo WILL be released in The Others limited edition packaging internationally. It streets on 12/6 in the, packed in a briefcase that includes a bonus booklet, collectible art cards and a replica top. Click the link to pre-order. It will also be available in France, and word is Germany will get a Steelbook case version. Again, there MAY also be availability at exclusive retailers, still TBA.
